We are 10 years old this year!

Hyde Park Source is a local community organisation making environmental improvements in Leeds. We create gardens and play areas for community use out of derelict and disused spaces. We have converted over 40 bin yards into gardens in the Burley Lodge area since 1998.

We run two accredited youth projects called ‘Step Up’ (14-16) and ‘Step Out’ (16-25) and a volunteering programme (Any age. This is a role supporting young people). Everyone getting involved at H P Source can learn basic construction skills and community arts skills whilst working as a small team to create permanent community spaces. No experience is necessary just an interest in getting involved.

Last month we won the Community and City Pride Award for ‘Innovation Project of the Year’ which was a great achievement.

We are currently building an urban wildlife garden for Rosebank Primary school which includes a rainbow bench, a willow tunnel and a beautiful mosaic mural designed by one of the children at the school. Teachers, parents, children, volunteers and young people have all been involved. This garden is a Breathing Spaces project which has been funded by the Big Lottery and supported by Extended Services.

Anyone wanting to find out more about doing an accredited training course (14-25 years) or volunteering should contact Emma or Chris on 0113 245 8863 or info@hydeparksource.org
